Uploading Sessions #9
Era uma vez uma banda oriunda do País de Gales que, para além de possuir o nome mais genial para uma banda pop, conseguiu editar, em 7 anos e como quem não quer a coisa, 6 absolutas obras-primas: FUZZY LOGIC (1996), RADIATOR (1997), GUERILLA (1999), MWNG (2000), RINGS AROUND THE WORLD (2001) e PHANTOM POWER (2003). Sendo assim, digam-me lá uma coisa: por que carga d'água é praticamente impossível encontrar à venda em Portugal qualquer álbum dos Super Furry Animals? Mais grave ainda: como é que se percebe que, quando esta banda edita há poucos meses uma colectânea de Singles (que constitui uma autêntica Bíblia na arte de escrever CANÇÕES apenas comparável à dos Smiths ou à dos Stone Roses), como é que se percebe, dizia eu, que não se veja essa mesma colectânea à venda em nenhuma loja de discos deste nosso país? Eu, pelo menos, não consigo perceber.
Os Super Furry Animals, como já devem ter percebido, são a minha banda favorita e, na minha opinião, a única capaz de fazer sombra a bandas como os já citados Smiths (vénia), Stone Roses (dupla vénia) ou Radiohead (vou ali a Meca e venho já). E porquê? Porque nenhuma outra banda foi até hoje capaz de misturar de forma tão sublimemente criativa e jovial géneros tão díspares como a pop, o rock, o punk, o tecno ou a música psicadélica. Os Super Furry Animals são o supra-sumo do bom-gosto e da boa onda: são tão simplesmente únicos de tão geniais (e pimba, depois deste post, vai parar às urtigas a minha lendária fama de ser um gajo sóbrio e moderado).
A música que aqui vos deixo, «Juxtapozed with U», single retirado do álbum RINGS AROUND THE WORLD, é (como o seria qualquer outra música retirada da colectânea - juro-vos que a escolhi à sorte) um bom exemplo para ilustrar o que estou práqui a berrar (vocês não o sabem, nem o poderiam saber, mas vou gritando cada palavra que escrevo para este post): começa com uma orquestra de cordas e sopros muito «easy-listening» à la Love Boat, passa para um verso cantado com Vocoder à la Daft Punk sob um fundo subtilíssimo de ruídos analógicos, feedback e percussões e, quando ainda estamos tontos, atira-nos às fuças um dos melhores refrões de sempre da música pop:
«You've got to tolerate all those people that you hate
I'm not in love with you - but I won't hold that against you.»
Sabem que mais? Até tenho inveja dos que não conhecem os Super Furry Animals: quem me dera poder ouvi-los novamente pela primeira vez.
