Não faço a mínima ideia de qual será, hoje em dia, a popularidade que Lou Barlow goza no seio da «malta jovem». No meu tempo, ele era um Deus. Para tal, bastaria o facto de ele ter (co-)escrito discos tão assombrosos como BUG (1988) dos Dinausor, HARMACY (1997) dos Sebadoh ou DARE TO BE SURPRISED (1998) dos Folk Implosion - mas a verdade é que Lou Barlow é um dos mais profícuos e talentosos songwriters da sua geração e andam por aí mais de duas dezenas de discos a comprová-lo. Há algumas semanas, li na imprensa especializada que ele tinha editado um álbum a solo e fui logo logo comprá-lo com (confesso) o coração nas mãos. Não havia razões para pânico: EMOH (2005) é um belíssimo trabalho, sóbrio e maduro, e talvez até seja a melhor porta de entrada para quem não conhece um dos maiores compositores underground da música alternativa norte-americana.
Deixo-vos aqui uma canção que está em vias de me levar à loucura - chama-se «Home» e, desde o primeiro momento em que a ouvi, apanho-me nas situações mais insuspeitas a cantá-la baixinho. Um gajo, nestas merdas, até pode fazer figuras tristes - não deve é fazê-las sozinho.
